I have been present for many classes that were taught by Mike, from the first presentation of the Seven Foundational Principles of Policing (which continues to impact law enforcement to this day), to numerous Defensive Tactics classes, Stress Management, debriefs and more instruction than i can list here. Mike is one of the best instructors that I have ever had the privilege to see teach. He has a unique style of instructing, and in doing so, captures the attention of everyone in the audience. He speaks directly to his audience and has a way of engaging even the most reticent of people. He is a fantastic storyteller and is both funny and inspiring. Mike is fantastic at tying all elements together and making the listener reflect and think deeper and in a different way about the subject matter. Mike holds himself to a very high standard and is a genuine leader that inspires everyone within his purview to be the best they can be as well. He inspires others to rise above where they currently are and to think beyond the boundaries of what they thought they could do. Mike is truly a visionary and has the rare ability to not only envision something but to put everything in place to make it happen as well. Mike is not only confident and intelligent, but has a great ability to read people and to adjust his teaching style based on the needs of his audience. I truly believe that Mike is the definition of a leader. I can say with confidence that I admire him greatly and am always humbled by the level of instruction that he gives. I don't know of anyone else who "thinks outside the box" as effectively as he does. He is not phased by the fact that others may not see his vision initially but carries it through to the end and the end result always speaks for itself.
